Tweet Hartley boots Saints past 49ers win
San Francisco - Drew Brees has a lot more opportunities thanks to its opportunistic defense.
The previous season, the New Orleans Saints have their match in a high-flying offense. So far this year, not the other side of the ball. While Brees & Co. find their way in the beginning, the defense appears to be the kind of mid-season.
Garrett Hartley, a 37-yard point was blocked and partly by the time just flew to expire Brees put in place with the completion of 30 yards to Marques Colston and the Saints home opener spoiled San Francisco 49ers with a 25 - 22 victory Monday night.
"We have the mindset we are the hunter and not the game," Brees said moments after the thrilling finish.
San Francisco, Frank Gore ran for a landing with 1:19 7-yard play and Vernon Davis have a catch around the call for the goal line for the tying 2-point conversion. The game was originally not a good call, but the 49ers (0-2) received the call to a repeated.
The defending champion, Super Bowl Saints (2-0), who rely more on their defense of the party, and had the ball at the 30 with 1:14 left and the wind at your back. Brees hit Colston with a pass which, in turn, the Saints 18 with 18 seconds left. The 49ers look anxiously Hartley just as great. It was Hartley who started in goal winner in overtime of last season against Minnesota Saints Super Bowl form.
Ray McDonald had a slap on the hand Hartley, but it's just there.
"I was half the ball, but I have not had enough," said McDonald.
Reggie Bush caught a 6-yard pass in his first game since his return in 2005 Heisman Trophy won everything in Southern California. The NCAA punished after the conclusion of the USC that Bush and his family had money and gifts from sports agents while Bush played for the trojans. Bush out of the field to help with a right leg injury with 6:58 left, then to the locker room on a cart. No information was given about the severity of the injury.
"Everybody is giving us their play A, Bush said:" Everyone is giving us their best shot .. We just find ways to win. That is all we can do is to find ways to win. We can not deduct a win like this is. This is a great victory against a physical team, a tough team. They went and gave us their best shot. We have always found a way to win. That's what champions do, find ways to win something. "
Brees hit David Thomas for a 3-yard score that New Orleans before the end of third quarter and Tracy Porter intercepted the 10-yard line, the lead to begin Gore.
"They played really well," Brees said "You have your hat to them to take., They played hard."
San Francisco outgained the Saints 417-287 meters, but they struggled with turnovers.
Roman Harper, a pass intercepted by Alex Smith at the 26, in the first quarter. Malcolm Jenkins escape Delane Walker recovered at the 3 just before half-time while the Niners do not benefit from opportunities.
"We have the mentality that we were going the turnover battle to win, and we have only a casting," Saints Coach Sean Payton said.
At a festive evening at Candlestick Park in which the 49ers retired Hall of Famer Jerry Rice's No 80 shirt at Half Time, the Niners looked like the championship teams from Rice star in the 1980's and 90's.
Gore provided the highlight, running for the 112 meters and caught a landing pass of 12 yards to Smith.
"It was not another team is there to fight," Al Gore, "we were beaten."
the defense of New Orleans was shining for the second straight game for the national honor, the Saints' first game since the start of the NFL season in prime time on September 9 with a victory of 14 -9 Vikings. The fight Saints offense looked far from top form, but still ways to save Niners results for the sixth consecutive time.
San Francisco, helped by committing four turnovers and slamming a ball out of the end zone for a safety on the opening series.
New Orleans is 2-0 in consecutive seasons for the first time in franchise history.
Brees led New Orleans peacefully in the end zone in his first drive as he did in the original series with the team's first game. Brees - the time signature to sign on the sideline prior to wear for the game - capped the seven-play, 46-yard drive by pressing a wide-mouth Bush, who said the crowd subdued.
Brees completed 28 of the 38 254 meters past eight completions of Pierre Thomas.
49ers coach Mike Singletary during the week said: "We will be Drew Brees to stop. Not quite.
"The things we do for ourselves that are self-inflicted cost us the game," said Singletary.
Hartley has also started shooting in the fourth quarter of 46 and 19 yards from the Saints, a quick turnaround in their position NFC South clash Sunday with the Falcons did. Atlanta Games commanded 41-7 victory against Arizona.
Smith was 23 of 32 for the 275 meters with two interceptions.
"We were productive, but also for all of the steps we would have got more points," said Smith.
The 49ers eventually the end zone for their first touchdown of the season at the 9:52 mark of the second quarter, when Smith was linked to Al Gore. But there were few such moments because of all the mistakes - a lot of things that hurt, even in San Francisco in an embarrassing 31-6 loss in Seattle.
On security, fill in the center David Baas breaking ball over the head of Smith. The 49ers were booed by the home crowd after the treason-three in the next series. Smith was intercepted by Harper the next time that San Francisco has the ball, right before the resumption Gore released.
The Niners do not seem the same communication problems that plagued them against the Seahawks have. There were problems with the games by Smith before his helmet is cut with 15 seconds left on clock.
Singletary and offensive coordinator Jimmy Raye spent the week trying to issue debt with Raye, and vowing to do things. While moving the field Raye was discussed, he remained in the stand of the plays and Smith call wearing a wristband with the go-to play in case questions came up.
