Flushing pastor said it was a miracle that no one was injured when a tornado ripped the church tower






The pastor and parishioners of a church history of Flushing divine intervention to say why no one was injured when a tornado down Thursday to its clock.


"We think it was a miracle," says the Reverend Ted Chase, in the tower of St. George's Episcopal Church, where the wooden structure was directly over his head carried.

Chase has sprinted to the clock tower of the closing of windows when he heard the tornado approaching, but a sickening thud in his footsteps stopped.

I feel the wind blowing around me, and heard a big boom over my head. It was the end, "he said. "I knew enough to go down."

The priest is shocked by the broken tower across the street.

"The tower was not only time, the tower is up and thrown into the street .. I have never seen anything like it," he said.

Despite the damage, Chase celebrated a mass at least an hour after the storm.

"I did not think to cancel the mass, I think I was a bit shocked, but they just started hitting me," he said.

Tower was built in 1854, and in a time dominated the rest of Flushing. Friday was just a pile of broken plates on the sidewalk.

Firefighters cautiously returned damaged which the accumulated cross the tower of the Gothic church.

"When I looked up and saw it was what had been a death in the household," said goalkeeper Blaise Scelsi. "We have to build."
