Clemson students denied bond in death of baby




Clemson University junior Brandon Richard Lewis, who was arrested Friday and charged in connection with the death of a girl who died in October 2009, was denied bail at a hearing Saturday morning.

Lewis, 25, of Clinton, SC, and remains in custody at the detention facility in Laurens County on Saturday night.

He is charged with murder by child abuse and murder, aiding and abetting by child abuse.

Lewis was arrested outside Lowry Hall on the campus of the Clemson 11 months after 16-months, Hepburn Audrina Claire is dead.

The baby's mother, Ashley Nicole Hepburn, was charged with murder by child abuse in October 2009. The relationship between Hepburn and Lewis is not clear.

Online court records are not updated on Saturday to show if Lewis is represented by a lawyer.
